The Ministry Of Good Spirit Is Here — Next Steps for Mikko-Pekka
What’s going on? What are you going to do next? — frequently asked questions from me and within my mind.
I departed Idean/ Capgemini about half a year ago and have stayed away from working since. Half year is a short time, but I have had a chance to do quite a bit and be involved with multiple things. At some point I started to ponder what unites all the investments, board work and projects together. Own thinking and valuable conversations with the really cool people brought the idea of a system to the realisation. The system is call the Ministry of Good Spirit
I want to create a positive impact on society by increasing our good spirit. In addition to my personal approach, behaviour and actions, my goal is to impact all companies, activities and projects that I am working with so that the good spirit would grow through their actions. The ministry of good spirit is a philosophy to invest time, energy and assets to people, projects and companies. The vision is to create a society of social balance and that all people will have good spirit to make decisions regarding their lives.
The ministry of good spirit IS NOT political, religious nor does it have a specific ideology in the background. The ministry promotes universal values and principles of good spirit and lives; balance and harmony with the environment and compassion and growth mindset. The philosophy of Esa Saarinen has influenced a great deal. I believe, like Professor Saarinen, that better thinking creates better lives.
The definition of the good spirit
I believe that with positive thinking and responding with good spirit to matters in our lives we can live better lives. Once our internal spirit gets better it radiates to our context thus creating more collective good. The good spirit does not (always) come from life changing, revolutionary matters, but those are small beacons of joy, warm thoughts toward others and feelings of hope in everyday life.
In my journeys to explore what good spirit means I have made my own (not scientific) definition of it. Here you go:
The Good Spirit grows when …
… we know ourselves and especially our strengths
… we see ourselves relevant and meaningful and being part of the bigger whole
… we can trust others and for the future
… we we dare to feel and express our emotions
… we hope.
Life is not only dancing on roses and obviously there are dimensions in the world that diminish the good spirit.
The Good Spirit vanishes when …
… the process dementors (Vogons) lay out rules and borders and ask us to follow rules for the sake of rules.
… our internal voice lures you to give up by saying don’t even try, you did not succeed last time either.
… the addiction robbers invade your thoughts and make you follow the flickering fire and give you fast rewards, but with high cost.
… our internal impatience machine activates and makes you rush to get what belongs to you and shout What’s in it for me?!?
We are not perfect and the enemies of the good spirit are smart, powerful and resilitient. The Ministry of the Good spirit is here to fight agains the mighty opponents and empower our capabilities to think better and reach the good spirit.
The ministry of good spirit is in operation
The goal of the ministry is inspiring but pretty grande. Currently the operations are human sized, no annual budget nor a mandate from the government, I operate the ministry with my own resources so therefore the operations are the ones that I feel that I can truly help. Here is my to-do list and at the same time the operational model of the ministry.
A1: Networking: Connecting, meeting and talking with people, organisations and projects that promote the good spirit.
A2: Connect people, organisations and projects
A3: Marketing, promotion and communication of the ministry and its ideas, people and organisations.
A4. measuring the growht of the good spirit. The amount of vitality, joy and inspiration, compassion and systems intelligent are all measureable items.
A5: Staying curious for life. The good spirit is everywhere.
The ministery has already started its operations in the spring of 2021 we formed an advisory commitee to guide our path. The members of the advisory commitee are: Camilla Tuominen, Heli Arantola, Niko Wass, Marko Kulmala, Laura Siltala and Esra Dogramaci.
On the 26th of May we held the first gathering with the people, projects and organisations over 30 invididuals joined the zoom meeting and here is list of current stakeholders involved:

The doors of the ministry are open to everyone. The admission criterias are simple: a) willingness to have a great good spirit b) some kind of means or ways to do so c) willingness to think positively and d) capabilities and energy to help others.
