Better Society By Using Hope As Superpower.
On Thursday 17h of September begins the first of its kind Untiled Festival (www.untitled.community). The objective is to imagine the future by conversations, art and experimentations. The future has no name yet so is the festival also untitled, which opens up doors to create, think and imagine. I am founding alliance members of the Festival trough my own company Hanskis Maskin Service (www.hanskismaskinservice.com). Not to do with machines have to say. My project, side-hustle at the festival is called Universal Basic Hope.
What is Universal Basic Hope?
The goal of the project is to create a service, that helps people to make better choices in their everyday life. Better choices impacts directly to the percieved meaning and relevance of life. I am using all my knowledge and capabilities that I have gathered during the 20 years of service design and insights about human behavior and intention to create better society.
The main idea is solve our worries before worries becomes too big and relieve people of having stress. The signature moment of Universal Basic Hope (UBH) is to provide glimpes of hope when everything seems hopeless. UBH brings practical solutions for better choices and big goal is to make existing social welfare system even better and on the other be more engaging than easy but dangerous experience — like quick loan providers.
Universal Basic Hope in Validation.
The service is not existing. We are creating the first concepts of the service for validation purposes, but also to find right partners. The experiments are going to happen in real life with real people where our job is to validate the value proposition, market fit and also validate the just cause.
During our early research we’ve found that feeling of meaningful and relevant life is far more important that rationally argumented social security system.
Universal Basic Hope Is About Systemic Change.
The ideas is improve the perceived experience and feeling of the social security system. We know that money does provide well being only to certain extent, but very soon we need something more feeling of meaning is more depend of social, intellectual and well being capital than just money.
Finland experimented Universal Basic Income already and interestingly the people did not find jobs more than usual, but their feeling of meaning, sense of contribution and overall happiness rose. That already have saved resources and brought more value to society. In Universal Basic Hope we want to take these experience further and scale to really change the system.
Systemic changes are complex, time and resource consuming and outcomes are hard to predict. Therefore we are at Untitled — to understand, discuss and imagine how might we create something tangible. If you want to take part to this journey, please do contact me and let’s talk more!
